When I came here, there have been a lot of acronyms that I didn’t know or understand. It took me a while to figure some of them out. So I compiled a list for future reference to those who may have the same problem.

Common Terms

AAMOF - As A Matter Of Fact
ATM - At The Moment
AFK - Away From Keyboard
BIN - Buy It Now

BRB - Be Right Back

主要的一个问题是语速。说母语的人，尤其是商务人士，打电话的时候说话语速都很快。下面是一些实用的小贴士可以让母语是英语的人放慢说话的速度。

* Immediately ask the person to speak slowly.
* 直接请这个人慢点说。

* When taking note of a name or important information, repeat each piece of information as the person speaks.
* 记录一个名字或者重要信息的时候，打电话的人说一句你就重复一句。

据说有一本书叫《中式英语之鉴》- The Translator's Guild to Chinglish。但是本文收集的资料不知道是不是出自此书。经过本人阅读，50句中的每一个问题都很精彩，恰当地指出了很多我们不知道该怎么翻译的中文俗语的正确译法，比如我们常说的“这山望着那山高"，在英文里的习惯说法是“他山之草更绿”-the grass is greener on the other hill。毫无疑问，掌握这些知识才能尽量避免中式英语，更好地与外国人沟通。
